Shots fired at police during response to mental health crises, APD said

Several shots were fired at police officers Sunday morning after they cleared the scene of a mental health crises in Anchorage. All lanes of Minnesota Drive between West Tudor Road and West 36th Avenue were closed Sunday morning as police and SWAT responded to reports of a man suffering from a mental health crises in the 4200 block of Greenland Drive. Police said they had also been responding to reports of a disturbance with a weapon at a home. APD posted at 9:10 a.m. that Minnesota Drive was closed and at 10:10 a.m. posted that Minnesota was open as the scene had continued to close Greenland Drive.
