Texans win on 59 yard Ka’imi Fairbairn field goal

The 1983 Chicago White Sox had a slogan called “Winning Ugly” This year’s version of the Houston Texans might adopt something similar, perhaps opting to go with “Winning Barely.”

The Texans improved their record to 4-1 on a game winning 59-yard field goal from Ka’imi Fairbairn. Final Score, Texans 23-Bills 20. For Houston, their four wins have come this season by a combined total of 15 points.

It’s okay H-Town to exhale, after all you have as many wins as the Colts, Jaguars and Titans do at four.

In Sunday’s game, the Houston Texans had a game of two halves. In the first half, they forced Buffalo to punt five times and didn’t commit any penalties. C.J. Stroud connected with Nico Collins for a 67-yard touchdown early in the game. However, Collins had to leave the game due to a hamstring injury. The Texans were leading 17-3 at halftime with 229 total yards of offense. But things got much tighter in the second half.

After growing their lead to 20-3 early on in the 3rd quarter, Buffalo would capitalize on a variety of Texans miscues ranging from seven penalties to a pair of costly turnovers. Along the way Kamari Lassiter whiffed on a tackle on a Bills fourth down attempt at mid field, and the result was a 49-yard touchdown score to Keon Coleman. That would be the lone bright spot for Josh Allen who was never able to get into any semblance of a rhythm, only completing 9 of 30 attempts for a mere 131 yards and the aforementioned score to Coleman.
