Climbers Rescued in Himalayas

Additional Coverage:

Two climbers, Fay Manners from England and Michelle Dvorak from the US, were stranded at 20,000 feet on Chaukhamba mountain in India after a rope broke.

They lost all their gear, including food, shelter, and climbing equipment. As snow fell and temperatures dropped, they sheltered on a ledge, shivering and running out of energy.

After sending an emergency text, search teams initially failed to find them due to bad weather. However, a French climbing team came across them and provided supplies and support.

The French team contacted a helicopter with their location, and the women were eventually rescued. Manners expressed gratitude for the French team’s help, saying they would have been in danger without their equipment.

The climbers were terrified during their descent, but were relieved to be met by rescue teams. Manners emphasized the importance of being prepared for emergencies in the mountains.
