SHINE A LIGHT ON PINK!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and all month-long Mix 1079 is Shining a Light On Pink. This week Charmaine Tyson, Operations Manager of Carolina Breast Friends, shares how navigating a diagnosis and how nurse navigators play a role.

Charmaine’s Journey, 3x Metastatic Breast Cancer Survivor/Thriver

Charmaine was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 as a young survivor, with subsequent recurrences in 2016 and 2021. Despite having no family history of the disease, Charmaine has faced each diagnosis with resilience and faith. Through the grace of God, she is now thriving with no evidence of disease in her body. She currently serves as the Operations Manager at Carolina Breast Friends, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the breast cancer community. Charmaine’s journey with the organization began 10 years ago when she first walked through its doors as a patient. Now, she is a source of inspiration and encouragement for those newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, or celebrating survivorship.
