Florida Men Found With Runaway Girls, Loaded Guns In Route 46 Traffic Stop: Police

Two out-of-state men stopped for motor vehicle violations on Route 46 in Bergen County were found to have not only picked up two runaway girls from Virginia but were in possession of loaded guns, a high-capacity magazine, stolen hollow-point bullets, and more, police said.

Ridgefield Park officer Lavrone Green stopped a Penske truck around 11:35 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 in the westbound lanes near the I-95 ramp, Chief Joseph Rella said.

With help from Sgt., Nicholas Triano, Ptl. Marco, and Ptl. Anthony D’Elia, Green carried out an investigation and identified the men as Freddie Lynum, 35, and Lamount Cushion, 27, both of Gainesville, Florida. The men were making a delivery in New York and picked up two runaway girls while traveling north in Virginia, Rella said.

Rella also noted that Lynum is an ex-convict.

A search of the vehicle with help from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit turned up a loaded Glock 19 with a high-capacity magazine, stolen hollow point bullets, a loaded KSRC Ruger handgun with a defaced serial number, and several small zip-loc type bags with a brown powder substance and various drug paraphernalia, Rella said.
