“Howl at The Moon for K9s” will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at The Moon, 1105 E. Lafayette St.
It is a special community event to honor area military and first responders, as well as learn more about K9s For Warriors, the nation’s largest nonprofit organization that provides trained service dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or service related sexual trauma.
The free, public event will provide entertainment, special presentations, and multiple fundraising activities to benefit the organization. K9s Ambassador David Kelley and his Service Dog Bert will speak during the program.
Determined to end veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of trained service dogs to military veterans.
With the majority of dogs coming from shelters and rescues, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery. This treatment method is backed by scientific research (from University of Arizona’s OHAIRE Lab) demonstrating Service Dogs’ ability to help mitigate their veteran’s symptoms of PTSD while simultaneously restoring their confidence and independence.
