FL’s “Safest” City, The “Heart of the Treasure Coast,” Was Also Ranked The Second Safest In The USA

When I write articles about the “best” places to live or retire in Florida, many readers mention safety in the comments. This is understandable. Everyone wants to feel comfortable and secure in their own homes. The national publication WalletHub recently ranked what it felt were the “safest” cities in America. And Florida’s top pick – Port St. Lucie – is reportedly marketing itself as “the heart of the Treasure Coast.”

About The Study And What It Measured: In October of 2024, the website WalletHub released what it felt were the “safest” cities in the United States. In order to do so, it looked at metrics such as community safety rank, natural disaster risk, and financial safety.

No Florida cities came in the top 30 and South Burlington Vermont, Casper Wyoming, and Warwick, Rhode Island took the top spots.

Florida’s “Safest” City Port St. Lucie: Florida’s top pick, Port St. Lucie, came in at number 32. It ranked highest in the category of community safety rank.

WalletHub isn’t the only publication that found Port St. Lucie to be safe. US News + World Report ranked it the second safest city in the nation in 2022-2023.
