Just because Meghan Markle is no longer a senior member of the royal family doesn’t mean she didn’t learn anything from her time in London. In fact, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, just copied Prince William and Kate Middleton ’s go-to parenting move.
Over the weekend, Markle made a surprise appearance at the 2024 Children’s Hospital Gala in Los Angeles. While chatting with a little girl, the duchess demonstrated the royal family’s tried-and-true parenting move.

Photographers captured a photo of Markle bending down while chatting with attendee Ella Nelson. The parenting move creates a safe and comfortable environment for the kids to talk freely because she’s making direct eye contact and speaking on the same level.
The duchess was wearing a bold red dress by Carolina Herrera, which featured a sleek silhouette and a plunging neckline. (If the dress looks familiar, that’s because she previously wore it to the Salute to Freedom Gala in November 2021.)
