Attorneys prepare for Dec. 2 trial in Don Carter Lanes deadly mass shooting

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – Attorneys continue to prepare for the trial of the man accused of a deadly mass shooting at a Rockford Bowling alley nearly four years ago.

Duke Webb, 41, appeared in court Monday. The judge denied Webb’s attorney’s requests for a change of venue and the proposed jury questionnaire.

A former Green Beret, Webb is charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder and attempted murder, along with gun offenses. He’s accused of opening fire the evening of Dec. 26, 2020, inside the East State Street bowling alley, killing 73-year-old Dennis Steinhoff, 69-year-old Jerome Woodfork, and 65-year-old Thomas Furseth.

Webb faces life in prison if convicted.

His trial is slated to begin on December 2nd, 2024.
