Teen accused of raping woman in Brooklyn

BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A 16-year-old boy is accused of raping a woman while the two were having a conversation back in August, police said Monday.

The teen was arrested last week and charged with rape, sexual abuse, criminal obstruction of breathing, and forcible touching in connection to the Aug. 30 attack in Brooklyn, according to the NYPD.

Authorities said the boy and 22-year-old victim were talking when he shoved her to the ground and forcerd her to have sex with him near Blake Avenue and Junius Street in Brownsville at around 3 p.m. The teen then ran off before he was nabbed on Oct. 1.

Police said the suspect and victim were acquaintances.

The woman was hospitalized with unknown injuries, authorities said.

No other information was immediately available.

Rapes are up 14% citywide this year compared to 2023, according to NYPD data.
