FORT MYERS, FL. –A man from Indianapolis is in Florida and doing all he can to stay safe with Hurricane Milton on its way there. It is considered a Category 5 storm that will make landfall either late Wednesday or early Thursday.

Ralph Hill says he is semi-retired and works with a landscaping company. He owns a vacation home in Fort Myers. It already sustained damage from Hurricane Helene. He plans to evacuate.

“We had four feet of water and basically had to gut the house from 32 inches down,” said Hill.

Hill says he bought the house right before Hurricane Ian hit Florida.

“We’ve only had the place for four years. As my brother said right before Ian, he said, ‘You picked a heck of a time to start living down here’ so I saw the worst,” said Hill.

Hill says the people who live near him are more than a little concerned.

“It’s fear, anxiety, frustration, and it was verbalized very well by a person who said ‘I’m kinda getting tired of this’,” said Hill.
