Saints Give Update on Derek Carr Injury Versus Saints

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr already had a tough night against the Kansas City Chiefs in a 26-13 loss, and it could get tougher for Carr and company going forward.

Carr sustained an oblique injury on the left side, which Saints head coach Dennis Allen confirmed after the game . Allen said he didn’t have any other details.

“I have no idea,” Allen told reporters regarding any further testing needed for Carr. “The trainers told me he’s got a left side injury, and he’s out.”

The injury occurred when Carr took a hit by Chiefs defensive back Chamarri Conner on a long pass to Saints receiver Mason Tipton. That ended the drive, and Carr went to the medical tent followed by the locker room. Saints backup quarterback Jake Haener took over and went 2-7 for 17 yards.

Carr finished with 18-28 passing for 165 yards and two touchdowns versus an interception. He completed a 43-yard touchdown to wide receiver Rashid Shaheed in the second quarter and a 6-yard score to wide receiver Foster Moreau.
