OKCPD adding more patrols to Bricktown after string of violent crimes

OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – Oklahoma City Police Chief Ron Bacy announced on Monday the department was adding additional patrols to Bricktown to enforce the area’s curfew on minors.

Bacy said 10 extra officers will focus solely on enforcing the curfew, which went into effect in March 2023.

“This is not just for their safety, but the safety of everyone. There is a reason why this curfew was enacted,” said Bacy. “We saw whenever there were large disturbances, the potential for things to get out of hand occurred. So we want this to remain a family, fun and friendly environment for everyone.”

The announcement came after two shootings and a stabbing in Bricktown over a span of 24 hours.

On Friday night, one person was hurt when he was stabbed during a fight.

On Saturday evening, shortly before 10 p.m., one person was shot during a fight between two groups of people in the Bass Pro Shop parking lot. An hour later, four people were shot during a fight between two groups of people near the Harkins Theater.
