KET’s ‘The Civil War’s Lost Massacre’ to dive into bloody Simpsonville, Kentucky tragedy

KENTUCKY ( FOX 56 ) — One of the most popular television shows, “Secrets of the Dead,” is bringing an 1865 Civil War massacre in Kentucky to life this October.

The episode will focus on the events of Jan. 25, when 22 Civil War soldiers were ambushed by outlaws and killed, while 20 more were injured, during a cattle drive to Louisville, according to KET .

The episode, titled “The Civil War’s Lost Massacre,” will help trace the stories of multiple Kentucky soldiers from the 5th U.S. Colored Calvary that was overseeing the cattle drive, per KET.

University of Kentucky archeologist, Dr. Phillip Mink, with the help of the EduceLab Mobile Team, will help former Kentucky legislator Jerry Miller and Juanita White with the Farmington Historic Plantation in Louisville in their quest to uncover the truth.
