Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service to Be Held at Mississipi State Firefighter Academy Campus

A memorial service dedicated to honoring and remembering those who lost their lives in the line of duty will be held on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

The ceremony, which will be held on the campus of the Mississippi State Firefighter Academy, is being given by Mississippi State Firefighter Academy, in partnership with the Mississippi Firefighters Association and Mississippi Fire Chiefs Association.

On Tuesday, two more names will be added to a memorial statue that sits on the 112 acre grounds of the MSFA campus. The memorial bears the 122 names of those lost in the line of duty dating back to 1885.

According to Darkhorse Press, the names being added to the memorial are Chief Joseph Pennell, of Central Oktibbeha VFD, and Chief Greg Wall, of Sturgis VFD.

The public is invited and welcome to attend this event.
