Man arrested after Irving standoff linked to Dallas robbery, other crimes

A man arrested following a SWAT standoff in Irving last week is being investigated in connection with a string of crimes, including an aggravated robbery of a woman in Dallas, police say.

Wilmer Gonzalez, along with three other Venezuelan men, is accused of beating and robbing a woman as she arrived at her home in Northwest Dallas, police said. The robbery occurred just days before the standoff, which ended with Gonzalez’s arrest after several hours.

Dallas police said Gonzalez holds a significant leadership role in the Tren de Aragua gang, a violent gang based in Venezuela. In addition to the robbery charges, Gonzalez is being investigated for two murders in Chicago, according to law enforcement sources. He also has an immigration hold and is wanted by Interpol, police said.

Gonzalez remains in custody at the Dallas County Jail on an aggravated robbery charge.
