Community unites to commemorate deadly October 7 attacks on Israel one year ago

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Temple B’nai Sholom and First Baptist Church (FBC) of Huntsville held a memorial service Monday night joining forces to commemorate the deadly October 7 attacks on Israel one year ago today.

It was a difficult night for many in the Jewish community and beyond as they reflected on those horrific attacks, but among the most significant parts of the two uniting is coming together as one to stand up against hate.

The two congregations find common ground uniting in prayer with one another to remember both the innocent lives taken, the hostages who were captured, and those who remain in captivity.

“As we go through this process together, we acknowledge the pain and the tragedy, the trauma and the hurt and heartbrokenness that have occurred while also continuing to choose to be resilient and choose to be hopeful,” said Temple B’nai Sholom Rabbi Pj Schwartz.
