Scottsboro man charged with murder in Marshall County

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — Authorities said a Scottsboro man has been charged with murder in a shooting on October 5.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said 57-year-old Robert George Walsh was arrested on Monday, October 7, and charged with murder for the shooting death of 37-year-old Anthony Eric Blansit.

Man killed after his vehicle hit a tree in Lawrence County

On Saturday, October 5, MCSO said around 10:36 p.m., patrol deputies responded to a home on Foster Drive in Scottsboro for a reported shooting.

When deputies arrived, MCSO said they found a man with a gunshot wound outside the home. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Deputies then notified the on-call investigator to the scene.

The sheriff’s office said the victim’s body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy and identified as Blansit.

Walsh was taken to the Marshall Couty Jail and is being held without bond pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
