Help us choose the next Johnson County area Student of the Week

The Iowa City Press-Citizen Student of the Week is back for another round of voting.

Principals and faculty in Johnson County nominate their top students who deserve recognition from their peers.

The public can vote at press-citizen.com through 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10. The winner will be announced on Friday, Oct. 11, and an accompanying story will be published in the Press-Citizen.

The most recent Student of the Week was Caitlyn Bell, a Regina Catholic High School junior.

Here are this week’s nominees:

Emerson Eliezer Godoy, Clear Creek Amana High School

Emerson Eliezer Godoy is a senior at Clear Creek Amana High School. He came to CCA when he was a sophomore and has been an invaluable student-athlete on the soccer team while maintaining straight A’ in all of his courses. Godoy achieved proficiency in the English Language Proficiency Assessment for the 21st Century (ELPA21) and was awarded the Seal of Biliteracy in both English and Spanish in May 2024. Godoy then enrolled as a Student Teaching Assistant to help his fellow Spanish-speaking friends in an English course.
