California Interstate 80 Construction in Sierra Nevada Corridor to Cause Delays Through Fall

PLACER/NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES – Caltrans is advising motorists traveling along Interstate 80 (I-80) in the Sierra Corridor to prepare for significant delays this fall, as multiple construction projects and emergency repairs are underway. Travelers may experience delays of up to two hours as lane and ramp closures continue in several locations across Placer, Nevada, and Sierra counties.

While some emergency repair work is nearing completion for the season, several key infrastructure projects will persist through the fall. Motorists are encouraged to factor additional time into their travel plans.

Key Eastbound I-80 Projects and Closures:

  • Placer/Nevada Bridge Preservation Project: Near Magra, lane closures will occur from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. from October 7 through October 10, and from 10 p.m. on Friday, October 11 to 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 12.
  • Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project: Between Monte Vista and Drum Forebay, 24-hour lane and ramp closures will begin at 6 a.m. on October 7 and continue until 10 a.m. on October 11. Additional work is scheduled from 7 p.m. on October 11 to 10 a.m. on October 12.
  • Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project: Between Yuba Gap and State Route 20, lane closures are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., October 7 through October 10, and from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on October 11.
  • Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project: Lane closures between Troy and Soda Springs will occur around the clock from 6 a.m. on October 7 through noon on October 11. Additional work will take place from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on October 12.
