Lubbock United Family stores launch robot that checks shelf inventory

LUBBOCK, Texas — United Family stores across Texas and New Mexico launched a program featuring Tally, an autonomous robot that identifies out-of-stock items and pricing discrepancies.

The program will run in select Market Street and United Stores from October 2024 through January 2025.

Tally will allow teams to address issues quickly and efficiently. The program will free team members to focus on providing a higher level of guest service.

The technology identifies up to 10 times more out-of-stock items than manual store checks. Tally can help reduce out-of-stock rates, ensuring guests are more likely to find the products they need.

Tally is designed to complement the work of store team members, not replace them, the store said.

The robot will not interrupt guest’s shopping experience. The store ensured guests would not be filmed or photographed by the technology. If a guest encounters Tally, it will either pause, go around them or turn around and come back later.
