Holland businessman accused of taping up woman’s skirt waives prelim exam

OTTAWA COUNTY — Former business owner and Tulip Time board member Mark Dykema has been bound over to 20th Circuit Court after waiving a preliminary examination.

Dykema, 39, will appear before Judge Jon Hulsing, though nothing has been scheduled as of Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Dykema is accused of attempting to photograph or videotape up a woman’s skirt, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. He was arraigned Wednesday, Sept. 18, in 58th District Court before Judge Juanita Bocanegra. His bond was set at $10,000 and posted.

Further investigation revealed Dykema is suspected of using devices to record “upskirt” photos or videos of women in multiple locations around West Michigan. The department is working with neighboring police agencies on incidents that may have occurred in their jurisdictions.

Dykema formerly owned several Biggby Coffees, including locations in Holland Township, Zeeland and the Haworth Hotel. According to attorney Rob Howard, Dykema has since “divested himself” of ownership in the shops.
