Greece teen fatally shot in school parking lot identified

Rochester police have identified the teenager fatally shot in a school parking lot Monday evening as Devin Barstow, 18, of Greece.

Emergency responders found Barstow dead on the front porch of a vacant house at 286 Flint St. after receiving a call around 6 p.m. He had been shot multiple times, according to police.

Investigators determined that Barstow was shot around 4 p.m. in the rear parking lot of Charles T. Lunsford School No. 19 at 465 Seward St. After being wounded, he ran to the porch of the vacant house, where he died. About two hours later, a passerby noticed him unresponsive and called 911.

Police are investigating the shooting, which marks Rochester’s 43rd homicide of 2024, according to the RPD’s Open Data Portal. Authorities said Barstow did not appear to have any connection to the school or its associated recreation center.

No charges have been filed in the case. Anyone with information or video footage is asked to contact 911, the RPD Major Crimes Unit at (585) 428-7157, or CrimeStoppers at (585) 423-9300.
