Popular Health Drink Recalled In California Poses ‘Serious Illness’ Risk

Youngstown Grape Distributors Inc., voluntarily recalled two lots of Happy Moose Juice on October 4th due to the incompletion of “the High Pressure Processing (HPP) treatment, which is used to prolong the product shelf-life, prevent spoilage, and significantly reduce the risk of pathogens such as Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes and diarrheagenic E. coli.”

According to the United States Food & Drug Administration , Happy Moose Juice in flavors “Tropical Roots Juice” and “Strawberry Fields” presents a greater risk of bacterial infection following consumption than the company’s other flavors. Lot numbers ” H240903-E BEST BY 12/02/2024 ” and ” H240903-H, BEST BY 12/02/2024 ” were included in the recall.

The affected Happy Moose Juice products were distributed nationwide, including stores across California .

Individuals who consume the aforementioned organisms are at risk of contracting a “serious illness” and should avoid purchasing the products entirely.

While there have been “no reports of illness associated with these products to date” consumers are still urged to throw away the recalled products or return them to place of purchase for a full refund.
