ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police arrested Dezon Banks-Mckinney, 31, for allegedly breaking the siding of a door, forcibly entering a woman’s residence and punching her multiple times.
On October 6, around 1:45 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Kishwaukee Street for a domestic incident. The victim had visible injuries, police said.
A witness told authorities that Banks-Mckinney started banging on the door before breaking the doorframe, gaining entrance to the residence. He proceeded to attack a woman and a man sleeping on a couch, according to court documents.
The suspect also dented the male victim’s vehicle, police said.
The male victim said Banks-Mckinney attempted to strangle him as well, reports said.
The witness told officials she and the male victim were able to hold the suspect down and call authorities. Banks-Mckinney eventually broke free and fled on foot, according to court records.
Police took the suspect into custody in the 1600 block of 16th Avenue.
Banks-Mckinney is charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm, home invasion causing injury and two counts of criminal property damage.
