Machesney Park man accused of locking children in bedroom, not allowing them to use the bathroom

MACHENSEY PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — DCFS and Machesney Park Police took three children into protective custody, and Gregory Bergeron, 66, for allegedly abusing the kids.

On August 29, police went to the 7800 block of Scott Lane to assist DCFS with the situation. A DCFS investigator interviewed the children and they told her they were locked inside their bedrooms.

Authorities found locking mechanisms on each bedroom door that allowed them to be locked from the outside, according to court records.

The children told the investigator they could not leave to use the bathroom or great anything to eat. The kids said they relieved themselves in their closet or on clothing on the floor, according to court documents.

Bergeron is charged with three counts of unlawful restraint and three counts of negligence to minors.
