Disney World to Close Early as Hurricane Milton Approaches

Walt Disney World will shut its doors early on Wednesday in anticipation of Hurricane Milton’s arrival. The park’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom will close at 1 p.m., followed by EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, and Disney Springs at 2 p.m.

The closures are expected to continue through Thursday, although Disney Springs may reopen Thursday afternoon. Campgrounds and transportation will also be impacted.

“These adjustments are to ensure our guests and staff have ample time to seek shelter before strong winds arrive,” Disney stated.

Disney World closures due to hurricanes are uncommon. The park has only closed nine times in its 50-year history due to storms, with the most recent being Hurricane Nicole in 2022.

Hurricane Milton is currently a Category 4 storm and is expected to make landfall in Florida on Wednesday evening. It is considered “extremely dangerous” by the National Hurricane Center.

Other theme parks in Orlando, including Universal Studios and SeaWorld, have also announced closures due to Milton.
