The Post And Courier is reporting that claims of FEMA shutting down disaster relief efforts at Greenville’s Downtown Airport are false. They say that the man who started the effort, Isaiah Burch told them he paused his operation after a major influx of supplies.
Burch also told the Post and Courier that FEMA did not order him to shut down or pause the effort. The grass roots operation began at the Downtown Airport over a week ago and has since collected thousands of pounds of supplies for those impacted by Hurricane Helene.
Burch said that he needed to pause taking in supplies to organize and inventory what is already there.
