Live from Alaska: Fat Bear Week Review and why we must protect salmon in our ecosystem

In a free Zoom program live from Katmai National Park in Alaska on Oct. 15, Interpretive Ranger Keith Moore will talk about the importance of salmon in our ecosystem and present a review of “Fat Bear Week.”

“Fat Bear Week,” in its 10th year, has become a media phenomenon, and it has had a tremendous impact on Katmai National Park. The event just ended Oct. 8. “Fat Bear Week” is a fun contest where participants vote for the fattest bear of the year.

The 7 p.m. program featuring Ranger Moore is presented by the UT Arboretum Society. It’s free, but registration is required to receive your Zoom link and the recording. Register at www.utarboretumsociety.org/programs/. Closed captions are available, according to a news release.
