Man sentenced to 45 years for killing mother, baby in Greenville Co. home

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man has been sentenced to 45 years for the murder of his ex-girlfriend and child at a Greenville County home in 2022.

Officials announced 23-year-old Tyler Wilkins pled guilty on September 26 to the murder of Clarissa Winchester. In November 2022, Wilkins was arrested for beating Winchester to death inside a residence on Saw Mill Road where both individuals previously lived together.

Evidence presented during the plea showed that an investigation was initiated on December 2, 2021. Investigators said Wilkins discharged a firearm in the direction of Winchester and her father while she retrieved belongings from inside Wilkins’s home.

Winchester became pregnant following the initial incident.

On November 9, 2022, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home in reference to Winchester being reported missing by her father who said he was unable to get in touch with her.

When questioned, it was reported that Wilkins stated that he did not know where Winchester was, although the victim’s cell phone was showing her location as being inside the residence.
