Kentucky hospitals face shortage of IV fluids after Hurricane Helene

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Hurricane Helene has caused a nationwide shortage of IV fluids. Flooding from the storm forced medical fluid manufacturers to halt production. Baxter International, the leading supplier of IV fluids nationwide, has closed its facility in North Carolina for the foreseeable future. The company supplies 60% of the country’s IV fluid bags, including those to several hospitals in Kentucky.
