New motion filed in Amber Spradlin murder case

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — It’s a case that sent shockwaves through the Commonwealth, and now there’s a new development.

In July, 24-year-old Michael K. McKinney III (M.K.), 56-year-old Michael K. McKinney II, and 23-year-old Josh Mullins, all from Martin, Kentucky were all charged with seven counts of complicity to tamper with physical evidence. M.K. was additionally charged with Amber Spradlin’s murder. Now, a new motion was filed in the murder case.

“They are going to try to pull any trick that they can, smoke and mirrors, anything to shift the focus off of them and try to get the focus on somebody else,” said Spradlin’s cousin Debbie Hall.

Steve Romines, the attorney for M.K. filed a motion in the case for the Commonwealth to produce the full polygraph report of Roy Kidd, a friend of Amber’s.

Rominies said in the motion, “The disclosure of the full report is necessary to ensure a fair trial and allow the defense to properly evaluate all the evidence related to Roy Kidd’s involvement, as Kidd is the essential witness in the prosecution.”
