Three indicted in connection with Northern California bank robberies

(FOX40.COM) — Three Northern California residents were indicted late last month in a series of bank robberies, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

According to the DOJ, two of the suspects, a 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, conspired to commit at least 10 bank robberies across several cities, including Sacramento between June 2023 and September 2024.

According to the DOJ, the suspects would drive to bank or credit union branches and pass a “threatening” note to an employee demanding money.

The agency said they recruited primarily women, including the third indicted suspect, also 21, to participate in the robberies with them.

The DOJ said in at least one instance a woman was forced to commit a robbery against her will at gunpoint and in another attempted robbery, a minor was used.

According to the agency, the suspects actively recruited people for the scheme and “advertised the conspiracy on Instagram in videos and photographs of herself and other participants holding large amounts of cash.”
