A news release from the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office said Stephanie Bracks, 43, was sentenced to 47 months in prison, as well as pay $52,661.60 in restitution.

The case started in 2020 when a woman contacted the Wichita Police Department because she thought Bracks was stealing from her 89-year-old uncle. A second niece noticed the man’s driver’s license, social security card and several checkbooks were missing from his home in Wichita.

Police reviewed the case and found unauthorized checks written to Bracks and her boyfriend, Anthony Patterson.

A jury found Bracks guilty of “felony mistreatment of an elder person and felony theft.” As the sheriff handcuffed her, the judge also ordered her boyfriend to be arrested because he was not paying restitution in the case and violated his probation.
