Interchange at Interstate 185 and Manchester Expressway named in honor of Representative Richard Smith

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — Tuesday morning friends and former colleagues of state Representative Richard Smith gathered to remember his legacy and place a permanent reminder of his work in Columbus and the surrounding community.

Smith, who was the chairman of the powerful Georgia House Rules Committee, died suddenly in January. On Tuesday, the interchange at Interstate 185 and Manchester Expressway was named in his memory.

Those who attended the ceremony at Columbus State University’s Cunningham Center say it was an appropriate honor for a man who was at the intersection of so many good things that happened.
