Sioux Valley Energy crews staying busy in South Carolina

SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — Electric crews from South Dakota were sent to South Carolina to help restore power to areas affected by Hurricane Helene. Sioux Valley Energy spoke on how the project is going as well as looking towards the future with Hurricane Milton.

Vice President of Engineering for Sioux Valley Energy, Ted Smith, said crews are working on getting power back to those people that are still out at Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative.

“They are clearing off vegetation, getting rid of trees that need to be cleared that are down and replacing poles, getting wires back up, and getting the power reenergized back down on those lines where they do replace the poles,” Smith said in an interview with KELOLAND News.

In a Facebook post , crews were able to give service back to some areas after they restored six poles. They moved camps, according to the post.
