LUBBOCK, Texas – The Parenting Cottage announced they will be providing free car seats to families through the Texas Department of State Health Services Safe Riders Child Passenger Education and Training Program.
NCPA certified car technicians will provide car seat training courses at no cost.
Current Texas Law on use of car seats state they are required for children less than 4 feet, 9 inches tall and or less than eight years of age must be secured in a child safety seat system.
The Parenting Cottage encouraged parents to call and schedule an appointment for the Car Seat Safety class on Tuesday Oct. 22 and on Oct. 29.

Requirements for families are:
- Parents must call the Parenting Cottages at 806-795-7552 to pre-register before attending.
- Parents must have their child’s height and weight to register to ensure the correct car seat is given to the family.
- Expecting mothers must be in their last trimester to attend (28-40 weeks)
- Moms can call to register to attend classes at 24 weeks at The Parenting Cottage
- Limited appointments available must call in advance
- Please do not bring children to the appointment- parents only.
- Arriving late to appointments will have to reschedule.
- Must have a vehicle with working lap and shoulder belts.
- One car seat per family
