Schenectady school board talks new school safety measures

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Schenectady City School District Board of Education held a meeting Wednesday night to discuss progress being made on weapon detection and mental health measures that were passed in late September.

The changes were made after multiple fights broke out at Schenectady High School, including one involving a knife .

Along with discussing additional in-person de-escalation trainings, the safety committee said they will soon be ready to show the public their ideas to prevent weapons entering the schools. No final decisions have been made, yet, but the committee said they are looking for feedback from students and parents.
