Diddy Accuses Feds of Leaking Video

Additional Coverage:

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and his legal team are accusing the federal government of orchestrating the leak of a 2016 video showing Diddy assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.

The attorneys allege that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) provided the footage to CNN, which published it on May 17, 2024. Diddy’s team claims that DHS had a motive to damage his reputation without compensation.

The timing of the leak, coinciding with a break in the Donald Trump trial, is also seen as suspicious. Diddy’s lawyers argue that the leak was intended to generate more attention for the video.

They believe that DHS is the likely source of the leak, as its agents were frequently quoted in news stories about the investigation. Cassie, they say, is unlikely to have leaked the video, as she had no motive to do so.

Diddy’s attorneys are requesting an evidentiary hearing to determine the extent of the leak and appropriate remedies. They also allege that the raids on Diddy’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami were excessive, with federal agents handcuffing his children.
