Mass. Auditor Diana DiZoglio walking 141 miles for Question 1

DiZoglio is set to complete her journey from the Berkshires to Boston by Friday.

State Auditor Diana DiZoglio is walking from Berkshire County to Boston this week to raise awareness for ballot Question 1, which would give the state auditor the authority to audit the Legislature.

“Massachusetts is frequently ranked as the least transparent state legislature in the entire nation,” DiZoglio said in an Instagram video chronicling her cross-state journey. “We have an opportunity to increase transparency and accountability across the board.”

DiZoglio began the 141-mile journey, called “Walking for Sunshine,” on Monday at the state border in Great Barrington. She averages just over 17.5 miles walked each day and is set to reach the Boston State House by Friday.

Residents can join her along the route or at one of several rallies being held at community centers or local restaurants each evening of the journey, according to her website. She was joined by many state officials for sections of the walk, including several mayors and Senator Michael O. Moore.
