Video: Interstate 40 shut down after tractor-trailer overturns in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A section of Interstate 40 is shut down in Winston-Salem after a tractor-trailer overturned, according to the Winston-Salem Fire Department .

The crash occurred on I-40 West underneath the bridge at Exit 195 for NC 109/Old Thomasville Road.

Both I-40 East and I-40 West are closed as a result of the crash.

Video from the WSFD shows a damaged tractor-trailer overturned and blocking the westbound lanes of I-40.

There is no word as to what caused the crash or the status of anyone involved at this time.

The Winston-Salem Police Department has confirmed that I-40 West is closed due to a “traffic crash investigation.”
