Thoroughbred sales alone brought in around $1.2 billion annually, while the fall and spring races generated about $300 million.

The department said that beyond horse racing and sales, an additional $152,000 in spending in the Lexington area comes from Keeneland’s use as a destination wedding venue, corporate event space, fundraiser venue, or for other events year-round.
