DPS undercover online sting nabs 2nd suspect

WICHITA COUNTY ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Another suspect is booked into Wichita County jail in an undercover sting operation by the DPS in Wichita Falls targeting online child predators.

Christopher Cotton, 19, of Arlington, is booked on charges of online solicitation of a minor and promoting sexual performance of a child that allegedly took place from April 15 to July 24, 2024.

The DPS special agent said he created an online persona and photographs of a 14-year-old girl.

He posted in a chatroom as the girl and got responses from a person later identified as Cotton.

The agent began private messaging with the suspect, who began requesting explicit photos or videos.

A search warrant for the suspect’s Discord account revealed numerous conversations with other users identifying themselves as children between the ages of 11 and 14 whom the suspect asked to perform sex acts.

Last month, a former child actor and disc jockey from Los Angeles was jailed here in the same type of DPS sting.
