Atwater Police officers help reunite tortoises with family

ATWATER, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Police officers with the Atwater Police Department helped some lost tortoises reunite with their owners on Wednesday.

Police officers with the Atwater Police Department say they “never know what the shift will bring.”

According to police, citizens alerted the department about tortoises that were wandering the roads of Atwater. They were on Bellevue Road and Gipson Street in Atwater.

In photos posted on social media by the Atwater Police Department, the tortoises can be seen on the side street with items in their mouths.

Police thanked the citizens because, with their help, their “new friends” were reunited with their family.
