Skywatchers across New England will have a great chance to see the Northern Lights Thursday evening into early Friday morning. A strong solar flare earlier this week sent a coronal mass ejection (CME) directly toward Earth. As of Thursday afternoon, there are already signs of the CME reaching Earth’s magnetic field, which bodes well for the Northern Lights being active Thursday evening into Friday morning. The sky should be mostly clear on Thursday night, which also helps our chances of seeing the Northern Lights.
