“I try to kill him on the court more than anybody”ー Draymond Green on his relationship with LeBron James on and off the court

Draymond Green and LeBron James grew close over the years. The Golden State Warriors forward became a Klutch client in 2019, joining the Los Angeles Lakers superstar under Rich Paul’s umbrella and considering James a big brother. Even so, the former Defensive Player of the Year said any filial affinity is out the window when that ball is tossed at midcourt.

“There’s always this public disdain over me and Bron’s brotherhood. I try to kill him [on the court] more than anybody. I take him out. And vice versa. That’s what it is,” Green said, per ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk.

The Michigan State alum discussed life in the Bay Area without Klay Thompson. Green, Thompson, and Steph Curry were the Warriors’ core, which brought the franchise four championships in seven years. As Draymond puts it, Klay is his brother, but that wouldn’t stop him from running through his chest when they met as opponents for the first time.

Draymond invited LeBron to his wedding back in 2022, but it’s not all fun and laughter between these two competitors. Nothing highlighted Green and James’ disdain for each other on the court more when they locked horns on the biggest stage.
