North Alabama Homebuilding Academy driving trailers of donations to North Carolina after Hurricane Helene

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — While Hurricane Milton has dominated the headlines the past few days, people in several states, including North Carolina are still reeling from Hurricane Helene.

Helene made landfall in Florida two weeks ago, carving a path of destruction in Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

Man arrested in Madison following several reports of car, business break-ins

Tommy Davis, the Executive Director of the North Alabama Homebuilding Academy (NAHA), told News 19 that he was shocked to see the extent of the damage.

“Just to see the change in the way that the flooding ravaged the countryside there, is just amazing,” he said.

Davis told News 19 that he just visited the mountains of North Carolina recently.

“My wife and I actually rented a cabin up in that area this past summer for a vacation,” he said.

Now, Davis is preparing to head back to the North Carolina mountains. However, this time he’ll be bringing a trailer full of supplies.
