Springfield police investigate death of man found under bushes on East Bennett

The Springfield Police Department is investigating the death of a man thought to be a homicide.

Wednesday morning, police officers responded to 1824 E. Bennett St. for a well-being check of a man under the bushes, according to an SPD news release. They found the 59-year-old man, Bryan York, deceased.

Investigators determined York had injuries consistent with a fatal assault.

York is the twelfth homicide victim this year, with this being the city’s tenth homicide investigation, according to the release.
