Ozarks Tech inviting high school sophomores to explore programs, classes

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Ozarks Tech campus in Springfield is preparing to host sophomores from area high schools who want to learn more about opportunities to attend classes during their junior and senior years.

A press release from Ozarks Tech says the ExploreOTC event is expected to draw over 1,000 students from 26 southwest Missouri Schools on Oct. 17. The invitation-only event is also being combined with I-Create, a manufacturing expo that was first held at the college in 2022.

Students will start their day in the new Plaster Manufacturing Center and will rotate between different programs where students can take part in hands-on activities to help them determine which programs they are interested in.

“We know from holding these events in the past that students really like to see and experience first-hand the options they have at Ozarks Tech,” said Dr. Matt Hudson, executive dean of technical education at Ozarks Tech. “Allowing students to talk directly with faculty members and see the programs helps them make more informed decisions about the courses they can take and the paths they want to pursue.”
