DES MOINES, Iowa — A fire broke out at a used car dealership on the southside of Des Moines Thursday night.
At around 8 p.m. the Des Moines Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at Owen Auto in the 900 block of Army Post Road. When firefighters arrived on scene they found smoke and flames coming from the service department building at the used car dealership.
Firefighters fought the blaze for nearly two hours before finally knocking it out.
An investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing.
Des Moines Police temporarily shut down the westbound lanes of Army Post Road from SW 9th Street to SW 11th Street while firefighters battled the blaze.
